A Togolese Christian describes the discipleship course from Every Home for Christ (EHC) a revolution. Be Fruitful and Multiply (BFAM) helps churches have “members fi rmly rooted in the Word of God and … have rapid church multiplication,” she explains.
Self-discovery of biblical truth
BFAM uses a discovery method to teach biblical truth from memorable Bible stories. Each story is easy to remember, which helps Christians in oral-learning societies, like Togo’s, to retell the lessons. The Essential Series in BFAM covers: reconciled relationships, abiding in Christ, the abundant life and essential truths.
Positive responses
Responses at a church in Adido Adin, Lomé, where EHC trained 45 people in 2012, illustrate the practical and spiritual value of BFAM. Overwhelmed by what they had discovered from the Bible, some participants adopted BFAM for their family Bible study before formal Discipleship Groups were organized. Some started to invite neighbours to attend their Bible studies, which were based on the BFAM method.
Effective strategies
In 2012 EHC Togo trained 205 workers in four of the churches in Lomé, which it had mobilized to bring the Good News to the capital and to set up reproducing Discipleship Groups. The BFAM training helped to establish 10 Discipleship Groups in one church alone. When the church held its fi rst evangelism outreach on a Saturday in September, George Yao, the head of the Department of Evangelism, saw people returning with “great joy on their faces” and willing to continue the outreach.
BFAM “helps the church to do a better job because they focus on home-to-home visits, which allows a better presentation of the Gospel and a better follow-up of the new converts.” Pastor Ayi of a church in Keve told national Director Edoh Fiozandji
