In 2003 EHC Togo launched an ambitious strategy to mobilize thousands of Christians to pursue two goals:
1) To reach every home in Togo; and
2) To establish 7,500 new fellowships or churches across the nation.
Nothing so adventurous had ever been attempted by EHC in a French Africa nation. Regional Director Edoh Fiozandji named the initiative Vision 2010—a bold indication that, God willing, the goals would be achieved in seven short years.
By the end of 2010, leaders and workers from more than 20 denominations had partnered with EHC Togo to pursue the fulfillment of Vision 2010. They formed a virtual army of Christian workers engaged in research, prayer mobilization, leadership training, home-to-home evangelism and church planting. Sometime in the final months of 2010 both goals of Vision 2010 had been reached!
From the very start of Vision 2010, EHC Canada partnered with EHC Togo in a variety of ways, most notably in the development of five Strategic Ministry Centres in four major regions:
• Maritime region
– Strategic Ministry Centres founded in Midawokopé (Edoh’s native village) and Tsévié
– 837 Christ Groups established in the region
• Plateau region
– Strategic Ministry Centre founded in Atakpamé
– 1,172 Christ Groups established in the region
• Kara region
– Strategic Ministry Centre founded in Kara
– 1,004 Christ Groups established in the region
• Savanes region
– Strategic Ministry Centre founded in Dapaong
– 334 Christ Groups established in the region
Edoh and his team have decided to extend the vision to 2012 with even greater goals. They have worked ceaselessly to refine the strategy, to develop self-sustaining leadership in each area, and to do everything possible to ensure that the results endure. Says Edoh, “Our prayer is for fruit that remains.”
