It is the season of Thanksgiving and EHC’s faithful friends are in my thoughts and prayers.
The older I get and the longer I serve the Lord in ministry, the more the words of the Apostle Paul resonate deeply within me: “I thank my God every time I remember you.”
Month after month, year after year, we continue to send you requests for prayer and invitations for financial support. I am so grateful for your willingness to receive and consider these, even while your own needs wait to be met.
I realize that, as we share our needs, many of you are going through very difficult situations. Every week we receive your notes and prayer requests telling us of difficult and stressful circumstances— the challenge of chronic health issues, the painful loss of loved ones, the prospect of unemployment, the stress of financial difficulties.
I know from reading many of your notes that for a number of you life is difficult on many levels. Some experience the debilitating loss of mobility and independence, even the ability to go outdoors at your own will or care for basic needs.
We frequently hear from dear partners who have supported EHC for many years how they must now alter their support due to aging and changed living arrangements. Yet, faithful prayer support continues.
I can’t thank you enough for being willing to kindly and caringly receive our prayer needs, even in the midst of your own challenges.
Your outpouring of support during my long journey toward recovery, which continues even after three years, still moves me with deep appreciation and gratitude. And now more recently, Jacqueline’s health crisis and Irving Whitt’s urgent need while undergoing cancer surgery have been carried in the arms of praying people.
Years ago we often sang, “What a friend we have in Jesus.” This familiar chorus inspires another thought: What faithful and caring friends we have in the family of Jesus. Even in the midst of their own deep struggles, they remember us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done in Jesus’ name through the years and for all that you do to this day to support EHC. I pray that our God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. May you sense the wonder of His presence with you and live daily grounded in the hope he gives for now and for all eternity.
May the matchless grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the unconditional and perfect love of God, and the sweet, personal, consoling and uplifting fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
