In French Africa there are two major factors that hinder the spread of the Gospel—Islam and animism. These two religions are the primary challenge we face in taking the Good News of Jesus Christ to every home in every village and among every tribe. Day after day, EHC pioneer missionaries and volunteers who do the home-to-home evangelism endure insults and attacks by Muslims and animists. It is not uncommon for our workers to be beaten and their motorbikes or bicycles to be badly damaged. Despite this, they return and knock at the same doors in the
same villages.
When our pioneer missionaries approach a home, they usually introduce themselves by saying, “Is there anybody in this house who needs free prayer for any need, sickness or family problem?” This statement has proven effective as the contact point for EHC workers in villages and tribes across the French speaking African nations. This introductory question has enabled our workers to penetrate difficult areas with the love and light of Jesus Christ.
In additional to my duties as regional Director over all of French Africa, I also serve as EHC National Director for Togo. In recent years, the work in Togo has been more intense than ever and in the recent months we have seen tremendous spiritual fruit. In this one nation we have visited over 480,000 homes, seen 21,000 people respond to the Gospel, and planted 1,700 Christ Groups.
It is not uncommon for our workers to be beaten and their motorbikes or bicycles badly damaged. Despite this, they return and knock at the same doors in the same villages.
Similar results are occurring in other French Africa nations. I have been blessed to see the work firsthand in the Democratic republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, and Mali. I have personally seen God working miracles in these countries. Thousands of people are being saved monthly, and families in difficult areas are hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, many for the very first time. In each of these countries, new National Directors have been appointed. We see the potential in the coming years for an even greater number of responses to the Gospel message.
I consider it a great honor to pray for you who partner with EHC. I would ask that you pray for us in French Africa. Especially remember the EHC team in Mali, where Al-Qaeda has a strong presence and presents the threat of great danger to our workers.
We are ready to expand our work in nine French Africa nations. Pray that the Lord would guide us as we make contact with potential National Directors for these nations. We need great discernment and wisdom from the Lord.
I feel blessed to be able to share this report with you. May God bless you.
