Transformation. Lives Changed by the Power of Christ

Harvest Partner, News — May 14, 2012

Life is a constant challenge in Honduras, the second poorest nation in Central America. Unemployment is high, opportunities are limited and poverty is widespread. And beyond the economic stress, Hondurans cope with the same questions that confront people of every nation: Who am I? Why am I here? Where can I find real hope?

Praise God, answers are being found, and like a beam of light cutting through the confusion and chaos the Good News of Jesus is penetrating hearts in Honduras. Through the outreach of EHC in this nation of eight million souls, the Gospel is going forth and lives are being transformed by the power of Christ. You will be encouraged and blessed as you read some of the stories of true conversion…

Ramon Montoya, a 38-year-old cab driver, rejected the Gospel when EHC workers first visited his home. But several months later when Ramon’s wife Jenny was diagnosed with cancer, the first thing that came to mind was the hope-filled message he had received. Initially thinking that he had discarded the little booklet, Ramon was thrilled to find it at his house. He sat down and read the message over and over; a short time later he contacted the EHC office to express his desire to trust in Jesus. He also requested prayer for his wife’s healing.

Octavio Rivera is the most prominent citizen of Planes, a small town situated on Celaque, the highest mountain in Honduras. In spite of his wealth, Octavio was a bitter and unhappy man. When EHC missionaries came to his door one day, he invited them in because he had grown increasingly aware of his spiritual need. The workers talked with him for over an hour, explaining the story of Christ’s infinite love and redemption. He responded by praying to receive Jesus Christ as his Saviour. Today, Octavio is still a prominent citizen of Planes, but he will tell you he is truly a citizen of heaven!

Erica and José Mejia were going through a marriage crisis when EHC workers came to their home. On the verge of divorce and the threshold of their greatest crisis ever, they listened to the remarkable message of life and hope in Jesus Christ. They responded joyfully, giving their hearts to the Lord. And the realization that they had received forgiveness of their sins moved them to forgive one another and renew their relationship, but this time with Christ at the core.

Pray for Ramon, Jenny, Octavio, Erica, José and the thousands of other people whose lives are being touched through the work of EHC/Honduras.

May God continue to give a great harvest of transformed lives!
