The Gospel Moves Forward in Latin America!

Harvest Partner, News — January 30, 2012

In spanish, the word adelante refers to forward movement, to purposeful direction. In the work of EHC Latin America there is definitely an adelante factor involved! It is a great pleasure to report to you what the Lord has done and is doing across this region of in recent months. Truly, the Lord has done so much! All across Latin America, God is moving in ways that I could never have imagined!

Every Home for Christ started a work just a little over a year ago in the nation of Colombia. As you may know, Colombia is a country with a notorious reputation for drug conflict and guerrilla factions within the country. Despite these serious obstacles, many people are responding to the Gospel. In our pilot project, 523 Christ Groups were established and two full churches planted. In another district of Colombia, 183 Christ Groups were formed. we believe this is tremendous fruit for a country that is so full of tension and conflict.

EHC’s current initiatives in Colombia are focused on an area that is controlled by guerrillas. We are pleased to report that, despite the many challenges, villagers in this mountainous area are responding to the Gospel. When they receive Christ, they take on serious risks because as followers of Jesus they can no longer grow cocaine. This angers the guerrillas. please pray for these many new believers that they can stand firm in their faith in Christ.

We can also praise God for what He is doing in Mexico! The work in Mexico started 42 years ago but was dormant for a number of years. In 2008, EHC Mexico began a new season by relaunching the work and targeting the largest district in the nation. In three years, 35 percent of the area has been covered.

EHC Mexico works closely with local churches to reach the lost and broken in their country. They offer seminars and provide training to those who want to be equipped to go out and evangelize. Mexico has many problems, some of which include the prevalence of drug cartels and false religions. This often causes problems for EHC workers and volunteers and can even result in suffering for the Church in certain places. even so, EHC Mexico attempts to unite the Body of Christ to fulfill the Great Commission.

Lastly, I want to convey what the Lord is doing in one Creative Access nation that is within my assigned areas of responsibility. This nation has been closed to the Gospel for a number of years, and until the mid-1990s there were very few evangelical churches in the country. But a powerful revival started and has spread like fire all across this closed nation. Since EHC started working here there has been an average of 255,000 responses to the Gospel every year. This is unimaginable fruit! The government has attempted to stop this work, but the power of God is so widespread that the fire cannot be extinguished. Praise God for all that He is doing!

¡Adelante! The Gospel moves forward in Latin America!
